Tomato Fish

Ingredients



  • Surmai Fish - 500 gms

  • (cut into 1" slices / steaks)

  • 1 tsp. red chilli powder

  • 1/2 tsp. turmeric powder

  •  1/2 tsp. black pepper powder

  • 1 tsp. salt



  •  1/2 cup refined oil

  •  1 tsp. cumin seeds

  •  1 tsp. mustard seeds

  • 3 onions - sliced thin

  • 2 tbsps. garlic paste

  • 1.5 cup tomatoes - chopped

  •  1/2 cup water

  •  1/2 tsp. salt

  •  3/4 tsp. garam masala powder

  •  3/4 tsp. roasted cumin powder

  •  1/4 cup fresh coriander - chopped

 

Method

Wash the fish steaks well and pat dry. Marinate the fish with the chilli powder, turmeric powder, black pepper powder and salt and keep aside for 20 minutes. In a large oven-proof dish, heat the oil in the CRISP mode for 3 minutes along with the cumin and mustard seeds. Add the sliced onions, ginger and garlic paste and continue to cook in the CRISP mode for 5 minutes. Add the tomatoes with half a cup of water and the salt and cook in the MICROWAVE mode at 750W for 5 minutes. Add the marinated fish slices to the tomato curry and cook covered in the MICROWAVE mode at 650 W for 10 minutes.

Sprinkle the garam and roasted cumin powder on the fish curry and stir. Sprinkle the fresh coriander on the curry and serve hot.
